Pick up your motorhome and drive north to the subtropical Bay of Islands. Settle in at Paihia, a vibrant waterfront town and the perfect base for cruising, kayaking, or relaxing by the beach.
Spend a full day exploring the marine paradise—sail among the 144 islands, visit historic Russell, or take a dolphin-spotting cruise. Optional activities include the Waitangi Treaty Grounds or hiking to Haruru Falls.
Return south to Auckland for an overnight stay. Stroll the Viaduct Harbour, visit the Auckland Museum, or take a sunset ferry to Devonport for panoramic views of the city skyline.
Drive south to Hamilton in the heart of the Waikato. Consider a detour to Hobbiton Movie Set, located between Matamata and Cambridge. In Hamilton, visit the award-winning gardens or riverside dining precinct.
Travel east to the Bay of Plenty coast. Tauranga offers harbourside charm and beach access, while nearby Mt Maunganui is perfect for a short summit hike or a soak in the saltwater hot pools.
A short inland drive brings you to Rotorua. Discover bubbling geothermal parks, steaming lakes, and Māori culture. Enjoy a traditional TE PA TU experience in the evening with dinner and storytelling.
Spend the day at your own pace—ride the Skyline Gondola, zip down the luge, visit Whakarewarewa Living Māori Village, or relax at the Polynesian Spa. Optional day trip to the Hobbiton Movie Set if missed earlier.
Take the scenic route south to Taupō. En route, stop for jet boating at Huka Falls. In town, cruise to the Māori rock carvings on Lake Taupō or enjoy lakeside dining and shopping.
Travel west through lush farmland to Waitomo, home of the magical glowworm caves. Join a guided tour to drift under sparkling cave ceilings or try black water rafting for something more adventurous.
Return to Auckland to drop off your motorhome and reflect on your adventure through the geothermal, coastal, and cultural gems of the North Island.

Motorhome hire is with THL and is a Maui Ultima 2 Berth. Offers and vehicles are subject to availability at all times this offer may not be available on all dates or in all locations. Motorhome pick up & drop off in Auckland. International flights are NOT included. A 10% deposit is required if booking is made within 60 days of departure.
